You've found a friend...
of wildlife, nature, and the Refuge.

Anytime is a great time to visit Hagerman NWR...

Especially Springtime!  Enjoy newly green fields and trees, early wildflowers, migratory birds on their spring passage - from Yellow-headed Blackbirds to American White Pelicans!  Look for the resident Bald Eagles, taking time off the nest to catch a fish or two. Enjoy cool spring days before summer blasts into North Texoma!  See you at the Refuge!

Butterfly Garden Walks at HNWR

Butterfly Garden Walks are set for the first, third and fifth (if applicable) Saturdays, through October.  During June - September the hours will be 9:30 - 11:30 am.  These walks are free - come and go or come and stay.  Family friendly - bring your camera, too! Garden docents will be on hand to help you identify the native Texas plants and visiting butterflies, and we have close focus binoculars you can borrow to take a really good look at the bugs and butterflies!  Free butterfly garden literature is available also. Tram Tours at Refuge

Observe wildlife at Hagerman NWR aboard our open air, all-electric Carlos and Eulalia Cardinal Express Tram!  Tours are set for 2 pm Saturday and Sunday, weather and lake level permitting. Your driver/guide points out and identifies wildlife along the Wildlife Drive during the 90-minute tour, making frequent stops for photo taking.

Tram tours are recommended for age 6 - adult. For information and to make reservations, please call the Refuge, 903 786 2826 during Nature Nook hours, 9 am - 4 pm, Monday - Saturday and 1 - 5 pm on Sundays. Please do not leave voicemail messages as volunteers cannot retrieve them.

Tram tours are free of charge; however,  donations are accepted for the maintenance fund.

Service dogs are allowed on the tram; no other animals are allowed.

Special tours may be arranged for groups of up to 12 individuals.  Call the Refuge and leave a contact message for the Friends, for details.
