Currently there are 33 Bluebird nest boxes along Harris Creek Trail.  The boxes are numbered and many have nameplates on them showing the name of individuals and families who have adopted nest boxes in 2011, to support the nest box program at the Refuge.  For 2011 24 boxes have been adopted.  

This year both Bluebirds and Carolina Chickadees (photo) have produced young in the Harris Creek boxes.

If you are hiking in the vicinity of the nest boxes during the nesting season, please don't approach them, tap on them or try to open them, as this may cause any young birds who may be in the box to fledge prematurely.
